Monster Energy Drink

So there you have it: Monster energy drink. This one is the original/classic/standard Monster energy drink, or as I like to call it Monster Green (Green Monster). Recently I ordered a case of it and as of today I have 0 cans left, because I chugged them pretty quickly at around 3-4 cans per day. At the nearby Walgreens location I pay around $3.00, so when I found a 24-can case listing on Amazon at $36.80 delivered, which comes out to $1.53 per can, which saves me about 50% from the store price. Otherwise the price for the 24-pack (old or new version; I don't know) is $54.87 or $52.13 with the Subscribe & Save plan (5% savings).

The tab is standard style pull tab, and this is why I think that the case was cheap; because they had to clear out the cans with these old tabs to make room on the market for the cans with new style pull tabs that feature the monster logo. This reason for low price just makes sense to me.

As you can see on the can graphics, you can get free (plus around $5.00 for shipping) Monster team gear by collecting and mailing-in the new style pull tabs that feature the monster logo. This marketing scheme is pretty much like the Marlboro cigarettes used to have the miles that you used to get the Marlboro-branded merchandise. The gear that they have up for grabs is Monster Calendar (15 tabs), Poster Pack (15 tabs), Sticker Kit (15 tabs), Men's T-Shirt (30 tabs), Women's T-Shirt (30 tabs), Beanie Cap (30 tabs), Backpack (60 tabs) and Hooded Zip Sweatshirt (75 tabs). Personally I would like to collect enough of tabs to get the backpack, because that item is the one that worth the trade in tabs. So far I have around 30 or so new style/type pull tabs and have 30 or so left. You can visit https://gear.monsterenergy.com/ to find out more about Monster team gear. I doubt that old style pull tabs will be accepted towards the Monster gear merchandise, so I will not try to send them in for redemption.

As you can see the color of Monster energy drink is classical "energy drink color" golden-amber, which is similar to Red Bull and Loop. The taste is very pleasing and can best be described as "solid energy drink taste" which is sweet, energizing and not offensive. It is on the sweeter side, but the mix of energy ingredients and carbonation give it a slightly sour-carbonated note, which is somewhat addictive and makes Monster energy drink as a well-balanced and quality energy drink. Lots of other energy drinks that try to be "#1" steer towards Monster's taste but fail to deliver what Monster does so well. I rate Monster energy drink at 4.8/5.0 and the value rating is 4.7/5.0 (4.0/5.0 for B&M store price) and recommend to everyone to give this energy drink a try, if you have not done so yet. So far this one is my favorite energy drink it terms of taste and energy kick.

I have also tried Monster Import edition energy drink with plastic valve and Mega Monster energy drink that comes in 24-ounce can that features threaded aluminum cap. The Mega Monster was an excellent drink that got me through a 3-hour walk of Central Park. It costs a bit more but you get 8 more ounces of the drink. I tried both variations in April-May period but I have lost the memory card somewhere in my apartment with the photos of the cans. 1. Actually they do accept the old style tabs, they DO NOT have to have the claw logo on them, they stated that in the rules, so it is safe to send in the non claw logo ones, I buy a 24 case from my local Sam's about once a month, and they are like that, but ours is only like $34 after tax lol, and you can get two Monsters for $3.62 at our local gas station. In total I have just under 400 saved up since July lol.

    1. How do they know if the tabs without logo came from their Monster drinks and not from some other drink? I think that Rip-It Citrus X has exactly the same color of tabs like the Monster Rehab tea.

  2. I'm sure they have a way of telling, but I do know in the rules they stated that it did not have to have the M claw, like on the BFC's albeit they are bigger than the old style can tabs, are accepted, so i'm sure they have a way of telling their tabs apart from other products.

Here is the FAQ from their site:

What kind of tabs can be used in this promotion?

All Monster Energy products with a pull tab can be used. These products include Monster, Lo-carb, Absolutely Zero, Rehab, Khaos, M-80, MIXXD, Assault, Heavy Metal, and all Java Monster and X-Presso Monster products in any size, so long as it has a pull tab. Caps from cap cans and resealable ends from 18.6 oz. cans will not be accepted. Tabs from other brands will not be accepted.

If you are unsure, you can give their company a call about the promotion @ 855-488-1212 I have never called them, so i'm not 100% certain but I am sure they have a way.

I usually don't claim the tabs tho anyway, I usually save up all my tabs for a year and sell all the tabs I have on eBay when the promotion starts, people pay decent money for a large sum of tabs lol.

Also as far as the Rehabs go, I think they phased out the old tabs on them awhile ago, at least here, we have the M claw here now, I think they did the M claw, solely for the purpose of easily identifying their products for this promotion, but they still accept their old tabs.

    1. I just checked the old Monster tabs and the other similar color tab and yes, they are different: Monster tabs are smaller and have different pinched pattern on the bottom. The similar tab is larger and a bit thicker, but is of exactly the same green color like the Monster tabs.

  3. Ah, well that means they can at least still distinguish the difference between their tabs and others, so don't fret sending them in lol, hopefully they have the same promotion next year also, as they have the last two years, because i'm collecting as many as I can in a years span only to sell them lol. Last year I had about 350 and sold them for $60 lol, not technically a win, but it's money, tho if I was smart, I could order two of each item and pay like $40 shipping and handling and probably make 10x more than $60.

    1. Maybe you can resell some Monster stuff on eBay and make more money this way rather than selling the tabs? Especially, once the promotion will be over, and there will be no use for the caps, but people still will be willing to pay for Monster beanies and tees. I have around 50 tabs so far and I think that I will get myself the Monster backpack. Too bad that the Deals/Dollar Tree is out of the Monster Mixxed for $1.00 per can, that was a good deal and I wish that I have stocked-up on more of them. I bought like 14 cans of Mixxed.
